USA Yoga Fundraiser Class

Join Roxanne and explore the 84 Posture Series – otherwise known as “Advanced Class”. This sequence of postures is where the postures that comprise the Bikram Yoga Series originated from. The class is advanced in only that it moves beyond what most beginning students would be comfortable attempting. It is not advanced in the sense that you need any special skills in addition to what you are already able to accomplish in the Bikram Yoga series (we will learn new things in this class and build on the things you already know). This class is perfect for anyone who has practiced Bikram Yoga regularly, who has taken our Intermediate Yoga Series, or who has a genuine love and interest for this Yoga practice. Roxanne will guide you through the postures in a fun and accessible way.

All proceeds from this class will be donated to USA Yoga, the non-profit organization that promotes Yoga Sport and works hard behind the scenes to put on the Regional and National Yoga Championships that many of your teachers and fellow students have participated in over the years. About Roxanne – 

“I first started practicing Bikram Yoga in 2009 after suffering a debilitating knee injury running a marathon. Even after months of physical therapy, I was unable to walk without excruciating pain and I became very depressed. A friend of mine (who had been suggesting Bikram Yoga to me for a few months) took me to my first class and I was immediately hooked. After my first class, I felt so much relief emotionally and mentally. My friends and family members noticed an immediate change in my attitude and my relationships with people. Physically, I knew that I was onto something and I began practicing Bikram Yoga on a daily basis. Two months later I found myself running again; stronger and more efficiently than I ever had before! I had such a transformative experience on so many levels practicing this Yoga that I could not wait to share it with others. I know what it feels like to be in physical and emotional pain and helping others work through similar experiences is the greatest gift. This yoga has allowed me to accomplish goals in my life that I never imagined possible. It has also helped me to become a kinder and more compassionate person.  I love teaching this Yoga and sharing it with the Binghamton community as well as with people all over the world.”

Roxanne has been practicing and teaching Bikram Yoga for nearly ten years. She was the 2015 USA Yoga Bronze Medal Champion and has competed at the National Level for the last six years (placing in the top ten in 2014, 2015, and 2017). Roxanne is one of only two women who has placed in the Nation’s Top Ten in every competition format that USA Yoga has offered.  In 2016, Roxanne was one of four women selected to represent the United States at the World Yoga Championship held in Pordenone, Italy. In addition to teaching classes and leading workshops around the country, Roxanne is the Principal Teacher here at Bikram Yoga Binghamton. She loves interacting and teaching students of all levels, especially beginners!


Holiday Open House

‘Tis the season of gratitude! 

Thanksgiving is one of our favorite holidays. It is a time for reflection and connection. Each year we host our annual Holiday Open House on the Saturday following Thanksgiving. We invite everyone to join us for a day of free yoga classes! This is the perfect time to share the Yoga practice you love with your friends, family, and co-workers. Never been to our Yoga school before? Has it been awhile since you’ve taken class with us? Now is the perfect time to come out and join us.

Fit for Fall Yoga Challenge

Our annual 60 Day Fall Yoga Challenge is back! A consistent Yoga practice yields many things – a healthy body being one of them. Each year we come together as a community to do more Yoga and implement healthy habits into our daily lives. It is amazing to see what happens when we attempt something as a group. This year we have expanded our challenge to include a Clean Eating Facebook Group (think small accessible changes that will add up big), bi-weekly support emails and we have some incredible prizes up for grabs for those of you that successfully complete a challenge.

Successfully complete a challenge and be entered to win our Fit for Fall Prize Basket (see details below). Prizes include:

All classes must be taken at Bikram Yoga Binghamton (take any class on our schedule!).

A minimum of 30 Classes must be taken at Bikram Yoga Binghamton between October 1st and November 29th in order to be entered into prize drawing.

Each person who successfully completes a challenge will automatically be entered into prize drawing. The more you come, the more entries you’ll receive: take class 30 times and receive 30 entries, take 45 classes and receive 45 entries, take class 60 times and receive 60 entries.

Winner will be drawn at random on December 1st.

Caty’s Top Ten Practice Tips

Bikram Yoga is a lifelong practice. Just like anything else that becomes part of our daily lives, there is an ebb and flow to it physically and mentally. Our very own Caty has been teaching for TEN YEARS (and practicing longer than that!) and has decided to share her top ten Practice Tips to help you stay motivated and inspired!

1.  Have zero expectations of your practice.

2.  Just show up and breathe.

3.  Be open to what is revealed to you about your body, mind and spirit.

4.  When something or someone disrupts you, what is that telling you about your practice? In other words, let no one steal your peace! Practice acceptance of others.

5.  Practice acceptance of yourself. However, don’t define or accept any limitations on your life or your practice. Anything is possible once you change your mind!

6.  Rest if you need to. The hardest thing to do in class is to be still, it’s also ok to take a time off, you’ll experience gratitude when you come back

7.  Your practice if part of your life plan, set goals: add another class, attend a workshop, compete, never settle into complacency.

8.  Share your practice! Leverage the studio, education system, athletes, and your peers to share yoga in the community, youth or in your work.

9.  Share this gift of yoga! Think of how you feel after your practice – encourage friends, coworkers, family to give it a try,  and you will change their life as you have changed your own.

10.  Be and feel accomplishment. 90 minutes is a telltale sign that you understand the importance of self care and in order to help others you must take care of yourself – feel good about that!
